Photography of Matt Wilson

I am in love with the incredibly evocative and sublime photography of Brooklyn-based photographer, Matt Wilson. www.mattwilsonphotography.com

I'm not sure if he's American or British - couldn't find much at all online re: a bio - so if anyone knows, let me know. They feel British to me...something about the yellow/greens and the sensibility/sensitivity to physical place.

Just found this in The New Yorker:

MATT WILSON

An English photographer now based in New York gives himself a mid-career retrospective, titled “This Place Called Home,” in a rental space recently vacated by Moti Hasson. Wilson’s pictures from Cuba, Ukraine, the Hebrides, and parts unknown—a series of vaguely forbidding landscapes, many taken at dusk or after dark—share a grainy, moody impressionism. But no matter how stylish this look, it doesn’t feel second-hand. Even in the most mundane images—a figure in a doorway, headlights on a winding road, a slice of night sky seen through a circle cut into a ceiling—there’s a sense of intrigue, a hint of seduction, or a peculiar feeling of dread. Through March 14. (535 W. 25th St. 510-219-3890.)

I want to live in these landscapes.

  1. Wow, just viewed your candle sticks, bracelet, shoes--very edgy....

Don't know if I like them, but they are definitely eye-popping stuff.
